China’s Gaokao Mathematics is part of the National College Entrance Examination system, but it should not be treated as one timeless national paper. For 2026, China’s Ministry of Education reported that 29 provincial-level regions had implemented the new Gaokao system, while Tibet and Xinjiang were in the final year of the older combined-subject model. This makes 2026 an important transition point in the national examination system.

Do not prepare from “Gaokao tricks” alone
The 2026 official commentary repeatedly emphasised fundamental knowledge, core methods, logical reasoning and the ability to work from definitions and structure. That means reliable preparation should build Mathematics first, then adapt to the applicable paper and provincial rules.
For international-transfer students
A learner arriving from Singapore, IB, Cambridge or another system may already know much of the Mathematics but still need adaptation to Chinese terminology, paper conventions and the exact senior-secondary sequence. Separate language/notation gaps from actual knowledge gaps.
