Cambridge O Level Mathematics (Syllabus D) 4024 is a current Cambridge Upper Secondary Mathematics qualification available in selected administrative zones. For candidates taking the examination in 2027, the applicable syllabus generation is 2025–2027.
Cambridge O Level and Cambridge IGCSE are equivalent qualifications grade for grade, but they are different syllabuses and examination routes. Students should prepare using the exact code entered by their school rather than using “Cambridge Maths” as a generic label.

Both papers contain structured and unstructured questions and can draw from the syllabus content. Cambridge requires candidates to show necessary working. Paper 1 therefore tests genuine non-calculator fluency rather than simply removing a device from otherwise identical preparation.

Non-calculator preparation

2028 availability transition
Cambridge currently states that O Level is not available in administrative zones 1, 2 and 6, and that from June 2028 it will begin transitioning schools in zones 3 and 5 from Cambridge O Levels to equivalent Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. Candidates and schools should therefore check syllabus availability for their zone and examination year.

- Confirm that the entry code is 4024 and not IGCSE 0580.
- Build no-calculator fluency from the start.
- Repair topic gaps through the Mathematics Knowledge Warehouse.
- Train Paper 2 calculator use with judgement and visible working.
- Use recent 4024 specimen/past papers for timing and mark-scheme conventions.
