Cambridge O Level Additional Mathematics 4037 is the advanced O Level Mathematics route for strong students progressing toward Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics or other mathematically demanding post-16 courses.
For 2027 candidates, the applicable syllabus is the 2025–2027 generation. It shares substantial content with Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606, but the candidate should still prepare against the exact syllabus code and administrative-zone availability that applies.

The 2025 syllabus revision introduced a dedicated non-calculator paper. Cambridge states that the change is intended to let candidates demonstrate more of what they know without changing the overall standard and demand of the qualification.

Coordinate geometry of the circle was added in the current syllabus generation, while some earlier content such as indices and surds became assumed knowledge rather than a separately listed topic.
4037 versus 0606
Cambridge states that endorsed IGCSE Additional Mathematics resources can support the O Level syllabus because the two routes share substantial content. They should still not be treated as the same examination: availability, syllabus code and paper administration remain route-specific.
2028 availability warning
Cambridge states that 4037 is available in administrative zones 3, 4 and 5 in 2026 and 2027, but from 2028 it is available in zone 4 only. Centres in zones 3 and 5 may need to move to Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606.
Preparation route
- Confirm 4037 availability for your zone and examination year.
- Build algebraic fluency before adding more calculus.
- Train Paper 1 exact/non-calculator Mathematics throughout the course.
- Use Paper 2 to practise efficient calculator support without hiding method.
- Move toward 9709 or the destination post-16 Mathematics route only after the prerequisite algebra/functions are secure.
