Singapore Mathematics and CBSE Mathematics share many mathematical objects but organise school progression and assessment differently. Families moving between Singapore and India should compare the learner’s actual topic depth and independence rather than translating Class and Secondary labels directly.
CBSE’s published curriculum for the 2026–27 academic year includes Mathematics as a main subject across the secondary curriculum, with the current curriculum portal also listing Mathematics at Advanced Level in Class IX and Mathematics within the senior-secondary XI–XII curriculum.

Why direct year conversion is risky

- Identify the destination class/year and subject route.
- Compare the destination syllabus against recently completed topics.
- Probe algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics independently.
- Separate missing content from different notation or sequencing.
- Bridge prerequisite gaps before full-paper examination training.
Examination culture matters
Even when the Mathematics overlaps, board examinations can differ in paper design, mark allocation, use of calculators, expected working and timing. Students should learn the destination examination only after the mathematical foundation is mapped.
