The Euclid Contest is the University of Waterloo CEMC’s senior-level Mathematics contest. It is taken by more than 25,000 students worldwide and mixes short-answer questions with full-solution problems that reward mathematical communication as well as correct results.
For 2027, the contest is scheduled for 6 April 2027 in North and South America and 7 April 2027 outside North and South America. The ordering deadline is 11 March 2027.
Why Euclid is a useful bridge
Euclid sits between routine senior-secondary Mathematics and proof-style competition Mathematics. The early questions reward fluency and careful setup; later questions increasingly require persistence, structure and written explanation.

- Clear mathematical writing

Do not treat Euclid as a speed-only paper
The contest deliberately includes questions where a well-communicated partial solution is mathematically valuable. Preparation should therefore include full written solutions and critique, not only answer checking.
