Understanding a Mathematics idea once is not the same as being able to use it weeks later, inside a mixed problem or under examination conditions.

Practice should make knowledge more available

• Retrieve ideas instead of only re-reading examples.
• Space important practice across time.
• Mix related question types so recognition improves.
• Vary numbers, wording and representations.
• Return to older ideas before they disappear.
• Use examination practice only after the underlying Mathematics is strong enough to carry the load.

The goal is not endless repetition. It is to make useful Mathematics available when the learner needs it. Detailed internal scheduling and selection rules are kept private.
