There are times when the most intelligent thing BTT AI can say is:
“Ask her teacher.”
Not because the AI has failed.
Because the teacher may know something the AI cannot infer from a mark, a description or even one photographed worksheet.
The person who has watched the work may have the better evidence
A parent might say:
“She understands at home, but the school says she is struggling.”
That is useful information.
But before deciding that the school is wrong, the parent is wrong, or the child behaves differently in each setting, I would want to know what the teacher is actually seeing.
Does she start independently in class?
Does she need repeated prompting?
Does she finish timed work?
Does she ask questions?
Does the same error appear when no notes are available?
A teacher who has watched several weeks of work may be holding evidence that simply is not in the chat.
Good AI should know when proximity to the learner matters more than fluency about the learner.
The handoff should still be specific
I do not want:
“Speak to the school.”
That is too vague to be useful.
I would rather the AI help the parent ask one clean question.
“Could you ask her Mathematics teacher whether the main difficulty appears before she chooses a method, or after she has already started correctly?”
Now the handoff has a job.
The teacher can answer from observation.
The parent can bring that evidence back.
And the AI can update the route.
Sometimes the teacher knows the context behind the mark
The class may have just moved into a harder topic.
The test may have been deliberately demanding.
The student may have missed lessons.
The teacher may have noticed that the child participates confidently but performs poorly under timed conditions.
Or the opposite.
Those details matter.
I do not want BTT AI filling missing context with an elegant guess when the missing context can be obtained from someone who was actually there.
Human escalation should not feel like being passed away
This is important too.
If the AI sends you to a teacher, it should explain why.
“I can compare the marks and the work you have shown me, but the question you are asking depends on how she behaves during independent classwork. Her teacher has direct evidence of that.”
Now the boundary makes sense.
You are not being dismissed.
You are being sent to the person holding the missing piece.
And sometimes the teacher is not the final answer either
A teacher sees the student in school.
A parent sees a different part of the child.
A tutor may see another.
The student herself knows things nobody else can observe directly.
I do not want one perspective automatically cancelling the others.
If they disagree, that disagreement is information.
Perhaps the student performs differently under different conditions.
Perhaps one environment is providing more hidden support.
Perhaps the pattern has changed recently.
The useful question becomes:
“Why are these views different?”
I want BTT AI to be useful enough that parents come to trust its judgment.
And trustworthy enough that it knows when somebody else has better evidence.
Sometimes the right next route is not another AI answer.
It is one good question carried to the person who has actually watched the child do the work.
Then we listen to what comes back.
